An exceptional opportunity is on the horizon for collectors of bibliographic rarities. The renowned auction house will soon present a legendary lot: the pristine first edition of Marinetti’s essay on futurist cuisine, preserved in perfect condition.
A manifesto that unites art and gastronomy
In the cultural landscape of the twentieth century, this text represented a revolutionary and disruptive experiment. The 1932 volume, written by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti and Fillìa, indeed proposes itself as a true futurist manifesto applied to the table. However, it is not a simple recipe book, but rather a total aesthetic performance where flavor meets color and intellectual provocation.
This rare specimen, which will go under the hammer during the next prestigious book auction, boasts an extraordinary feature. Its pages are still uncut, with closed sheets that testify to a perfect state of preservation. Compared to copies worn by time, this detail significantly increases the commercial and historical value of the lot, estimated between 400 and 600 euros.
What are the most provocative recipes?
The book collects a full 200 recipes intended to break traditional habits. Among the most famous formulas introduced in the futurist cuisine is certainly the Fragolamammella, composed of pink ricotta and Campari. Additionally, the Dolceforte recipe combines mustard, bananas, and anchovies between buttered slices of bread. Finally, the Svegliastomaco features a slice of pineapple topped with sardines, tuna, and walnuts.
The culinary oddities do not end here and include the Bomba alla Marinetti and the Aerovivanda al Brodo solare. That said, lovers of the genre will appreciate creations like the Carneplastico al Paesaggio alimentare or the famous Uova divorziate. Equally famous are formulas with evocative titles such as Reticolati del cielo, Sciatori mangiabili, and the singular Zuppe zoologiche.
| Recipe | Main Ingredients | Aesthetic Feature |
| Fragolamammella | Pink ricotta, Campari, candied strawberries | Mammillary shape with pink tones |
| Dolceforte | Butter, mustard, bananas, anchovies, bread | Sharp contrast between sweet and salty |
| Svegliastomaco | Pineapple, sardine, tuna, walnuts | Geometric composition based on fruit and fish |
How to participate in the exhibition and sale?
Before the sale event, the lot will be on display in Rome from June 22 to 24, at the headquarters on Via Quattro Novembre 114. Collectors will be able to admire this bibliographic treasure along with other works of inestimable historical value. Among these is a rare fifteenth-century edition of the Commedia di Dante and a precious first draft of the Promessi Sposi dated 1825-1827.
Overall, the event represents an unmissable appointment for the national bibliophile market. The official auction, organized by Finarte, will be held on June 25. It will be a unique opportunity to acquire a milestone of our avant-garde, preserved intact by time.
