Art market: Studio d’Arte Martini’s Auction 66 takes off

The spring season closes with excellent results for the contemporary art auction of Studio Martini. Auction 66, dedicated to modern and contemporary painting, recorded a wide international participation. Digital growth is attracting more and more collectors across Europe.

The session, held between June 10 and 11, totaled sales exceeding 2,600,000 euros. This brilliant result includes auction rights and demonstrates the vibrancy of collector demand.

Moreover, the percentage of lots sold reached 87% out of a catalog composed of 313 lots. This figure confirms the overall solidity that characterizes today’s art market.

However, a decisive role was played by the foreign audience. In fact, 38% of the bidders came from abroad, with a strong presence of European collectors.

What were the most desired lots of the contemporary art auction?

The auction record goes to Carla Accardi with the work Rossogrigiooscuro from 1996. The painting was awarded for 92,500 euros, doubling the initial maximum estimate of 50,000 euros.

Mario Ceroli also received extraordinary feedback. The double-sided sculpture La Pantera (1964) exceeded expectations, reaching 90,000 euros.

Additionally, the sculpture Contrappunto Piano (1973) by Fausto Melotti shone. Initially estimated between 40,000 and 50,000 euros, the lot rose to 86,250 euros.

International protagonists and other awards

On the international front, the work End of Day XIII by Louise Nevelson stands out, sold for 63,840 euros. Excellent performance also for Valerio Adami with Interno con lavabo (1966), from Galleria l’Attico, sold for 62,500 euros.

That said, many other artworks have enthusiastically exceeded their starting valuations. For example, Inaspettatamente (1987) by Alighiero Boetti reached 45,000 euros.

The creation Testa soave di un angelo by Nicola De Maria settled at 42,500 euros. Similarly, the bronze study by Arnaldo Pomodoro from 1969 reached 43,750 euros. The splendid canvas Grano giallo (1957) by Ennio Morlotti closed at 37,500 euros.

How is the contemporary sector evolving?

The results of this session reflect consolidated dynamics. The art market shows a constant demand for historical masters with excellent provenance.

Overall, the combination of specialized catalogs and online platforms broadens the horizon of auction houses. In this context, the platform of Studio d’Arte Martini proves to be highly competitive on a continental scale. The independent analysis by Artprice confirms the solidity of these trends.
