Art Basel Paris 2026 unveils galleries, program, and record numbers

Art Basel 2026 returns to the Grand Palais in Paris with over 200 exhibitors and a program that confirms the fair’s weight in the international calendar.

What will the fifth edition bring?

The event will take place from October 23 to 25, 2026, with Preview Days on October 21 and 22 and a public vernissage on October 22. It will be the fifth edition and the first led by Karim Crippa.

The exhibition will bring together exhibitors from 41 countries and territories in three sections: Galeries, Emergence, and Premise. Almost 30 galleries are participating for the first time, a sign of a turnover that remains selective.

Why does the French presence remain decisive?

Over 60 exhibitors operate in France. This figure confirms the solidity of the local ecosystem and the role of Paris as a center of artistic and institutional exchange.

The French component also influences the fair’s profile. Overall, the city strengthens its centrality in contrast to other more fragmented European hubs.

What new developments emerge from the Art Basel program in Paris?

A record of 12 joint presentations will signal a growing culture of collaboration among galleries. Additionally, the Public Program returns for its fifth edition, in partnership with leading Parisian institutions and with Miu Miu as the official partner.

Also returning is Oh La La!, the fair’s rehang initiative, scheduled for October 23 and 24 with an external collaborator from outside the art world. Avant-Première also returns, the invitation-only preview for galleries and major clients, in its second edition on October 20.

What is the current value of the French market?

The new edition arrives at a favorable moment for the art market in France. According to the Art Basel & UBS Global Art Market Report 2026, sales in the country reached USD 4.5 billion in 2025, up 9% year-on-year after two years of contraction.

The figure also surpasses 2019 levels. France represents 8% of the global market and remains the fourth-largest market in the world, as well as being the largest in the European Union, with more than half of the total value of the EU market.

Furthermore, the presence of galleries from the United States, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Lebanon, Indonesia, South Africa, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Tunisia expands the fair’s international reach.

Overall, Art Basel Paris consolidates its profile as a reference platform for dialogue between the French system and the global scene. The fifth edition confirms Paris as one of the main hubs for artistic production, institutions, and the market.
