From April 9 to 12, 2026, the Grand Palais returns to being the beating heart of the market and the debate on modern and contemporary art with the 28th edition of Art Paris. After the enthusiastically received return in 2025, the Parisian fair consolidates its role as a central spring event, reaffirming an identity that combines territorial rooting and international openness.
With about 165 galleries from around twenty countries, Art Paris 2026 presents itself as a selective yet accessible platform, capable of creating a dialogue between the French scene – which represents 60% of the exhibitors – and an increasingly targeted international presence. The result is a fair that prioritizes discovery, curatorial storytelling, and cultural positioning, rather than just the commercial dimension.
Two themes to read the present
The conceptual heart of the 2026 edition revolves around two major themes entrusted to invited curators, conceived as true cross-sectional paths within the fair.
The first, Babel – Art et langage en France, curated by Loïc Le Gall, is dedicated to the French scene and brings together 21 artists who explore language as material, structure, and field of tension.
Letters, words, signs, and symbolic systems become tools to question the relationship between text and image, between visible and sayable, between communication and ambiguity. The path returns the idea of art as a critical laboratory, in which language is never neutral but constantly reinvented.
The second theme, La réparation, entrusted to Alexia Fabre, opens the view to the international scene and addresses one of the most urgent issues of our time: the necessity to mend historical, social, and intimate fractures.
Repair is understood as a symbolic and political gesture, as a practice of care, memory, and resistance. The selected works evoke colonial wounds, conflicts, absences, and injustices, but also the possibility of building new balances starting from the fragments.
Art Paris 2026: a fair as an ecosystem
Alongside the thematic paths, Art Paris 2026 confirms a structured framework that reflects the complexity of the contemporary artistic ecosystem.
The Promesses section, dedicated to galleries with less than ten years of activity, hosts 27 emerging entities and highlights a new generation of artists, with a significant female presence. It is here that the fair reaffirms its commitment to supporting the renewal of the market and creating concrete opportunities for the younger structures.
The Solo Show, distributed between the general sector and Promesses, instead allow for a monographic exploration of the work of modern, contemporary, and emerging artists, offering the public a more focused and curatorial reading compared to the traditional fair presentation.
The French Design Art Edition sector also returns, dedicated to contemporary design and decorative arts. Architects, designers, and publishers present unique or limited edition pieces, highlighting the increasingly close dialogue between art, design, and art de vivre, and reinforcing Art Paris’s positioning as a transversal and interdisciplinary fair.
The awards: visibility, career, recognition
Great attention is also given to awards, strategic tools for legitimization and visibility. The Prix BNP Paribas Banque Privée – Un regard sur la scène française continues to support a living artist from the French scene, creating a bridge between generations and strengthening the role of galleries in the career path of artists.
Next to this, the Prix Her Art, created in partnership with Marie Claire and Maison Boucheron, is confirmed as one of the most significant international awards dedicated to women artists. In addition to the financial endowment, the award offers a powerful global communication platform, concretely impacting the positioning of the selected artists.
Art Paris 2026: beyond the fiera
Art Paris 2026 finally extends beyond the walls of the Grand Palais thanks to a rich VIP program and institutional collaborations, including the presence of the Fonds d’art contemporain – Paris Collections, the only public collection displayed alongside the galleries.
A strong signal of the willingness to intertwine market, institutions, and cultural policies, also addressing topics such as colonial memory and practices of symbolic reparation.
With this 2026 edition, Art Paris confirms a clear and coherent curatorial vision: to be not only a fair, but a cultural device capable of reading the present, valuing differences, and accompanying the transformations of the contemporary art system.
