The fairs not to be missed for art lovers in March

What are the fairs that will be held this March in Europe?

In a moment like this, amidst bombings and violence, art may seem like a weak bulwark. The world of art often reflects geopolitical dynamics and seems to attract only those who can afford to participate in the game. Yet, we believe it remains a territory where brotherhood and dialogue are welcome. We hope it is not a neutral and accommodating ground, but rather a lively exchange zone and a stance-taking area. Against the violation of international rights and the rule of the strongest. Not only against weapons as a tool of oppression but as a tool for conflict resolution.

The much-anticipated contemporary art fair in Madrid opens tomorrow. We are at its 45th edition. The words of the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez against military intervention in Iran resonate in our ears. Arco is the first fair to open the month. From March 4 to 8, 2026 at pavilions 7 and 9 of IFEMA MADRID.
11 Italian galleries. Lia Rumma, Massimo Minini, and Francesca Minini, the Roman Gilda Lavia and Monitor. Gilda Lavia participates by bringing a dialogue between Marc Bauer, Pamela Diamante, and Marina Paris. From Bologna P420, Pinksummer from Genoa, the Neapolitan Studio Trisorio, the Milanese Prometeo and Vistamare (Milan and Pescara). In the section dedicated to New galleries, there is Ada Project by Carla Chiarchiaro.

There are 170 stands in total from 31 countries, in fact, the Spanish presence is only at 34%.
30% of the foreign galleries represent Latin America, particularly Brazil and Argentina.

Among the small treasures to be discovered is a mummified statuette from the Ptolemaic period representing Osiris (Cybele gallery), a landscape by Claude Monet (19C gallery), a painting depicting a girl with a dog by Berthe Morisot (from M.S. Rau). Additionally, a inlaid cover with gems of the first edition of Kelmscott Press of William Shakespeare’s poems presented by Peter Harrington is striking. There are works from the first and second half of the 20th century, such as an oil on canvas by Ernst Kirchner (Henze & Ketterer) and a 1966 alabaster sculpture by Barbara Hepworth presented by Piano Nobile. Contemporary artists and designers like Formafantasma from Friedman Benda are also present.
